Programmable Assembly of Colloidal Nanoparticles Controlled by Electrostatic Potential Well

Compared with the individual colloidal nanoparticles, programmable nanoassemblies well-defined configurations exhibit more prominent coupling effects and collective behaviors. The full realization of unique superiority these nano assemblies requires development feasible approaches to assemble nanoparticles into an organized nanostructure on substrates, which remains a major challenge in nanotechnology at present. Herein, facile strategy is developed programmatically design diversified nanostructures through rational capture flexibly adjustable particle types, including their sizes, shapes, or components. Importantly, such takes advantage bowl-shaped electrostatic potential well that forms based combination positively charged nanoparticle negatively substrate, where theory simulation are employed reveal notable role substrate potential. As demonstration, series customized geometries locations have been successfully fabricated, especially asymmetric dimer structures, bring about distinct localized surface plasmon resonance hybridization effects. Therefore, joint computational–experimental showcase paves way toward preparation ideal nanostructures, providing valuable insight optical encryption, smart sensing, sensitive bio-detection, so on.
